 Profesor Emérito en el Departamento de Psicología de la Universidad McGill, de Montreal. Ha llevado a cabo una amplia investigación sobre las formas alternativas de educación bilingüe / inmersión para estudiantes de idiomas mayoritarios y minoritarios. Sus investigaciones actuales incluyen: el aprendizaje del idioma en niños bilingües en edad preescolar, en niños internacionalmente adoptados y el aprendizaje de lectura en segundos idiomas y el desarrollo idiomático y académico de estudiantes en riesgo en programas bilingües. Ha publicado numerosos artículos en revistas científicas, libros y revistas profesionales, y es el autor de más de 12 libros sobre el bilingüismo. Es el destinatario de la Asociación Canadiense de Psicología Premio Medalla de Oro, obtuvo el Premio “Paul Pimsler” para la Investigación en Educación de Lengua Extranjera, el Premio de Psicología Canadiense de Contribuciones Distinguidas a la Comunidad o Servicios Públicos, Premio de Educación Bilingüe de la Asociación de California para la Promoción del Bilingüismo, y el “Prix Adrien-Pinard”.
