Profesor Emérito en el Departamento de Psicología de la Universidad McGill, de Montreal. Ha llevado a cabo una amplia investigación sobre las formas alternativas de educación bilingüe / inmersión para estudiantes de idiomas mayoritarios y minoritarios. Sus investigaciones actuales incluyen: el aprendizaje del idioma en niños bilingües en edad preescolar, en niños internacionalmente adoptados y el aprendizaje de lectura en segundos idiomas y el desarrollo idiomático y académico de estudiantes en riesgo en programas bilingües. Ha publicado numerosos artículos en revistas científicas, libros y revistas profesionales, y es el autor de más de 12 libros sobre el bilingüismo.
